FLW is a vase that explores the relationship between movement, light, and material. Inspired by the natural form of a falling water drop, its silhouette is defined by soft, continuous curves that create a sense of fluidity from every angle.
The object is composed of two distinct elements: a 1.5 mm laser-cut aluminium base and a 3D-printed body made from translucent matte PLA. While the current prototype highlights the material's subtle interaction with light, the additive manufacturing process also allows the vase to be produced in a wide range of colours, making customization an integral part of the design.
FLW embraces a contemporary manufacturing approach, combining digital fabrication with minimal material use and a straightforward assembly. Rather than concealing its production process, the project celebrates it, demonstrating how accessible technologies can be used to create refined, functional objects.
Designed as both a decorative object and a flower vase, FLW balances simplicity and character, transforming the familiar image of a water drop into a sculptural everyday object.
